Warm Up with Bombardino

If you ever stopped by a mountain hut in 天美传媒 in the winter time, you may have seen people drink a yummy-looking yellow-and-white mixture 鈥 that would have been 鈥榖ombardino鈥.
Bombardino is a popular winter drink in 天美传媒, especially in the ski resorts. It is made with warm zabaglione, cream, and brandy, although there are three main variations according to the area:
- Calimero, made with zabaglione and espresso coffee
- Pirata (pirate), made with zabaglione and rhum
- Scozzese (Scotsman), made with zabaglione and whisky.
Bombardino originated in the northern region of Lombardy, precisely in Livigno, area, at the mountain hut Mottolino. According to legend, a young man from Genoa moved to the mountains and, after many years working as an Alpine trooper, was assigned to run the Mottolino hut. On a cold winter day, four friends sitting at the bar were discussing possible combinations to come up with a drink that would warm them up. They opted for milk, whisky and zabaglione, which would then be heated. A client tried it and exclaimed: 鈥淲ow鈥t鈥檚 a bombarda!鈥 (it鈥檚 like a bomb). The Genoese man then decided to call the drink 鈥渂ombardino鈥.
And it works: be prepared for the burst of heat you鈥檒l feel after drinking it, due both to its temperature and its alcohol proof (approximately 30掳). Enjoy and be warm!
Se avete mai frequentato una baita di montagna in Italia nel periodo invernale, potreste aver notato molta gente bere un miscuglio giallo e bianco dall鈥檃spetto gustoso 鈥 si tratta del bombardino.
Il bombardino 猫 una bevanda molto diffusa durante la stagione invernale in Italia, soprattutto nelle localit脿 sciistiche. E鈥 fatto con zabaione caldo, panna e brandy, ma ci sono altre tre varianti principali, a seconda della zona:
- Calimero, zabaione e caff猫 espresso
- Pirata, zabaione e rum
- Scozzese, zabaione e whisky.
Il bombardino ha origine in Lombardia, precisamente a Livigno, in Valtellina, al rifugio Mottolino. Secondo la leggenda, un giovane genovese si trasfer矛 in montagna e, dopo molti anni di lavoro come ufficiale alpino, gli venne dato in gestione il rifugio Mottolino. In una fredda giornata d'inverno, quattro amici seduti al bar discutevano possibili combinazioni per creare una bevanda che li avrebbe riscaldati. Optarono per latte, whisky e zabaione, il tutto da riscaldare. Un cliente lo prov貌 ed esclam貌: "Accidenti... 猫 una bombarda" (猫 come una bomba). Il genovese cos矛 decise di chiamare la bevanda "bombardino".
E funziona: siate preparati alla vampata di calore che sentirete dopo averlo bevuto, dovuta sia alla sua temperatura che alla gradazione alcolica (circa 30掳). Godetevelo e state caldi!
