When Italian politician and art critic Vittorio Sgarbi became the mayor of Salemi and subsequently announced that he would be offering abandoned houses in Salemi for just 1 euro, understandably many people were excited by the prospect of restoring a home in a beautiful Sicilian location.
Little has happened since and additional information was hard to find, despite trying numerous times.
Luckily, today, by way of a story on the loveSicily blog we found out that a film crew went to Salemi and filmed a documentary on the story.
Documentary film maker, Philipp Kaindl, has a blog about the adventure with many interesting clips and photos from life in Salemi and the surroundings.
