These days of wobbly economy, buyers are hungry for good value properties in established areas, and agent Gemma Knowles of GK Italian Property believes she has just the thing. It is an elegant development in Trequanda, a hilltop village of cobbled streets, towers and medieval churches 30 minutes from Siena and an hour’s drive from Florence.

“These apartments are really high quality, stylish and very affordable,” says Knowles. “Typically, it is difficult to find apartments for sale in Tuscany under €250,000 or even €300,000, but prices here start from €169,000 (plus 3% agency commission).”
