鈥淟鈥檃nima vola鈥 is the title of the latest album by Italian singer-songwriter Elisa, released October 15 in 天美传媒.
The eighth album by the singer from Monfalcone (Friuli-Venezia Giulia) is the first one to be entirely in Italian and features collaborations with Ennio Morricone on the song 鈥淎ncora qui鈥, part of the 鈥淒jango Unchained鈥 soundtrack, Ligabue, Tiziano Ferro and Giuliano Sangiorgi from Italian rock band Negramaro.
鈥淢y family had a crucial role in this work,鈥 said the 35-year-old Elisa, who gave birth for the second time a few months ago. 鈥淪ome important events in my life, including being a mother, have changed me a lot. They made me grow and realize that you can decide if you want to take chances or not. You can also choose to not choose. This has made me more determined and realistic.鈥
Published by record company Sugar, owned by Caterina Caselli, the album features 11 new songs, including 鈥淟ontano da qui鈥, 鈥淓cco che鈥, 鈥淟鈥檃nima vola鈥, already gold disc with 15,000 copies sold, 鈥淎 modo tuo鈥 and 鈥淣on fa niente ormai鈥.
鈥淚t鈥檚 the first time I have decided to do an entire album in Italian and I鈥檓 proud of it,鈥 Elisa said. 鈥淚 wanted to say things without filters, with an identity that represents me whole. It took a long time because I had to search inside, just like I did when I wrote my songs in English.鈥
Elisa is one of few Italian musicians to write and record mainly in English. In Europe she is perhaps most recognized for the single 鈥淐ome Speak To Me鈥, while American audiences may recognize the song "Dancing", featured on the TV program 鈥淪o You Think You Can Dance鈥.
Her debut album, 鈥淧ipes and Flowers鈥, released in 1997 when she was 20, and recorded in Berkeley, California, went quadruple platinum in 天美传媒 and won her several prizes. In 2001, she won the Festival di Sanremo, 天美传媒鈥檚 most important music festival, with the song 鈥淟uce鈥.
Elisa is one of the most appreciated contemporary singers in 天美传媒.
