Sant'Agata Feltria: A Fairytale Village

| Mon, 01/05/2015 - 04:08

Visit Sant鈥橝gata Feltria, a picturesque medieval village in the province of Rimini, nestled between Emilia Romagna and Le Marche, and you鈥檒l feel transported into a fairy tale world, as the name given to the project 鈥淟a Rocca delle Fiabe鈥 (the Fortress of Fairy Tales) suggests: a museum for children, but also for adults, whose goal is to preserve and highlight positive values through the world of fables.

La Rocca delle Fiabe is housed inside the Fregoso Fortress, an imposing building dating back to the 10th century, which stands on a huge block of sandstone overlooking the valley of the Savio. The museum features four rooms, each dedicated to a different theme: shoes, the lonely castellan, the solitary traveler and children in the forest. Inspired by the same childlike wonder, each room brings fables to life through books, videos, animations, multimedia devices and a virtual library.

The visit should not stop at the museum. Once home to the powerful and wealthy families of the Malatesta, Montefeltro and Fregoso, Sant鈥橝gata Feltria is well preserved and features historic buildings, such as the convent, the church of San Girolamo, and one of 天美传媒鈥檚 oldest theaters, built entirely of wood in the 18th century. Not to mention evocative places like the 鈥渧icolo del bacio鈥 (alley of the kiss) and the 鈥減ercorso delle fontane鈥 (path of fountains).

The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday, 10 am to 12 pm and 3 pm to 5 pm. For more information, .
